Newhaven is based in a converted grain store at 77 Montgomery Street in the heart of Edinburgh. Once we drove the rats out, we turned it into an open-plan creative community that is home to the agency and a wider collective of people engaged in creative industries. We have also hosted events, book readings, whisky tastings, soup kitchens, life drawing, film screenings and art exhibitions at No.77, and we even had a Spanish dancer 'interpreting' our workspace with a live and improvised choreography that was performed around us as we chewed our pens and supped our coffees. Blimey.

The Newhaven Garden is the product of an internal design competition to discover the budding Diarmuid Gavins and Kim Wildes in our ranks. The winning design (by our Planners) is supposedly 'an urban oasis where ourselves and our clients can relax, unwind and tune into the manifold possibilities of great strategic insights.' The planners like to do this while everyone else suns themselves with a Mojito in one hand and a burnt sausage in the other. And if anyone knows how to get ketchup stains out of astroturf, please email us.

We're an agency that likes to blend youth with experience. And while many of the Newhaven team are in our twenties, we recognised that there is a gap in our knowledge of that important group of 18-24 year olds who decide whether some of our clients' brands soar or stagnate. To that end, we have recruited 'Insiders', a hand-picked group of young people who live life at a faster pace than most brands can legislate for. They provide us (and our clients) with valuable insights into current and emerging trends.

At Newhaven we have a thirst for knowledge and we created 'Night School' to quench that thirst. Appropriately enough, the first Night School was an induction into Wine Tasting. These regular evening sessions are an opportunity for everyone in our building (and our clients) to get together and learn something new, whether it's Rocket Making, Belly Dancing or Hostage Negotiation.
